Cord Vernunft

From 1998 to 2004, Cord Vernunft studied Law in Berlin, Germany, and Prague, Czech Republic. After passing his first state exam, he completed a post-graduate course called Supplementary Studies in Business Law, which was organized by the University of Hamburg, Germany, the Hamburg Chamber of Industry and Commerce, and the Hanseatic Bar Association of Hamburg. In both state exams, Cord focused on Employment Law. After carrying out his legal training in Berlin, Cord was admitted to the German Bar in June 2007. Before joining Andersen in Germany, he was a Counsel with Luther Rechtsan-waltsgesellschaft.

Cord Vernunft advises his clients on all matters relating to employment law, including the strategic and economic aspects involved. He specializes in providing employment law advice during transactions and during the subsequent integration and restructuring of companies, including in the areas of co-determination, staff reductions, organization of employment conditions, and company pension schemes (involving civil service and ecclesiastical service, such as the German federal and state pension insurance provider VBL).

His day-to-day business includes advising companies on an on-going basis for constitution law issues. Within this context, he frequently conducts negotiations with work councils and also acts as an Assessor on conciliation boards.

Cord Vernunft also provides comprehensive advice on drafting employment contracts (e.g., variable remuneration models) and terminating the legal relations between companies and their directors, officers and employees. This also includes representing his clients in legal disputes before the competent labor courts and civil courts.
