John Shideler

John Shideler is a managing director at Andersen Consulting, where he oversees the U.S. greenhouse gas and sustainability assurance programs as well as product certification initiatives. With accreditation from the ANSI National Accreditation Board across multiple industry scopes, he ensures the delivery of high-quality validation and verification services. John’s expertise lies in guiding organizations through the complexities of climate change management and sustainability compliance.

As a co-author of Introduction to Climate Change Management: Transitioning to a Low Carbon Economy (Springer Nature, 2022), John contributes valuable insights into reducing carbon emissions and adapting to regulatory frameworks. He has also played a significant role in developing industry knowledge through his contributions to reports such as Tracking Alternative Jet Fuel by the National Academies of Sciences. Since 2002, John has helped shape ISO climate change standards, serving in leadership roles such as chairing ISO Subcommittee 4 and participating in ISO’s Climate Change Coordination Committee on ESG matters.

John’s work spans global sustainability efforts and practical applications of climate policies. He has provided training in greenhouse gas quantification to government agencies, supported sustainability reporting assurance for financial institutions, and led greenhouse gas inventory verifications for major industrial firms. His contributions also include consulting on carbon credit methodologies and delivering training programs under international contracts in regions such as Southeast Asia, Africa, and the Caribbean.
