Edward Schulte is a Managing Director in the San Francisco office and a part of the Alternative Investment Funds practice. Edward has over 18 years of experience in public accounting and specializes in the taxation of hedge funds.
Edward brings expertise in the taxation of financial instruments. These areas include advising companies on issues relating to wash sales, short sales, options, constructive sales, notional principal contracts, mark-to-market, straddles, foreign currency denominated instruments, market discount bonds, distressed debt, passive foreign investment companies and reportable transactions. He has developed an automated tax approach for funds related to the taxation of financial instruments.
Edward advises companies on partnership structuring matters, including the complexities involved with the contribution and distribution of property. He also advises companies on U.S. withholding related to the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act.
Before joining Andersen, Edward was a Partner at KPMG in the alternative investments practice. He was also a Principal with Rothstein Kass.
