Richard Larkins is a managing director in the US National Tax practice at Andersen. Richard has more than 30 years of experience in both government and private practice and extensive experience in the taxation of financial products and transactions.

Richard’s areas of expertise include real estate financing, bank lending, bankruptcy, debt restructuring, debt workouts, convertible debt, and hedging transactions.

Before joining Andersen, Richard served as a partner at Ernst & Young for 18 years. He was also a principal in the Office of Federal Tax Services of Arthur Andersen and worked as a Special Assistant to the Assistant Attorney General in the Tax Division of the U.S. Department of Justice and as an Attorney-Advisor in the IRS Chief Counsel's office.

Richard is a frequent speaker at tax conferences and a contributing author to the Federal Income Taxation of Debt Instruments, published by Wolters Kluwer. He is also an adjunct law professor teaching Taxation of Debt Instruments and Other Financial Transactions in the Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law LL.M. Tax Program.
