Isabel Martínez Moriel

Isabel Martínez Moriel is a Partner at Andersen in Spain, working in the Madrid office. She is responsible for the firm's Privacy, IT and Digital Business department.

With extensive experience in prestigious national and international law firms, Isabel specializes primarily in competition and EU laws as well as IT and data protection.

Her practice is concentrated on matters related to restrictive agreements, cartels, abuse of dominant position, merger control filings and state aids. Her experience includes counseling on antitrust proceedings before Spanish and EU competition authorities, appeals of sanctioning decisions before courts, drafting of compliance and cooperative programs, and advising on any matter related to competition and EU laws.

Furthermore, she advises on data protection compliance, including international data transfers (authorizations, privacy shield, binding corporate rules, etc.) and legal proceedings before the Spanish Data Protection Agency; on IP agreements, unfair competition, and EU regulatory frameworks governing the internet, consumers and life sciences as well as its implementation in Spain.

She has served both domestic and international companies as well as associations, public entities and holdings, acting in numerous relevant sectors (pharma and medical devices, insurance companies, financial services, infrastructure and public works, electronic communications, energy, investment and research projects, transport, retail, amongst others).

She is currently a lecturer at the Complutense University of Madrid and regularly participates in MA in Legal Practice at Carlos III University. She regularly contributes to articles and publications regarding law research and case law developments.

Additionally, she is a data protection officer (DPO) and a certified mediator registered with the Ministry of Justice.
