Kakuru Martin

Martin Kakuru is a partner at Ligomarc Advocates with over 15 years' experience representing clients before Uganda's superior courts. He also regularly appears before specialized tribunals and advises on complex commercial disputes across a broad range of sectors, including banking and finance, mortgages, distributorships, intellectual property (trademarks and image rights), and corporate transactions. He has significant experience in both domestic and international arbitration, acting in high-value and multi-jurisdictional matters. He is particularly recognized for his expertise in labour and employment law, having successfully handled numerous employment and industrial relations disputes for private sector clients, public institutions, and multinational organisations. In addition to commercial litigation, Martin has a strong practice in civil and public law, including judicial review proceedings and constitutional petitions, reflecting his commitment to upholding the rule of law and advancing effective dispute resolution. Martin brings over 15 years' experience in teaching and knowledge sharing, through which he has risen to the rank of senior lecturer at the Law Development Centre (LDC).
