Brian has over 15 years of experience in offering tax compliance, advisory services and company secretarial services. He has worked in various locations including Kenya and Tanzania. Due to his expertise and experience, he rose to the rank of Director at one of the international Big Four accounting firms.
He has significant experience in value added tax (VAT), personal income tax, and corporate tax. He has provided advisory and compliance services in various sectors such as the financial sector, telecommunication, oil and gas, shipping, insurance, agriculture and manufacturing.
Brian has also assisted a number of multinational clients in tax-efficient re-structuring as well as due diligence assignments. He has led clients through the process of registering their investment vehicles and filing annual returns with the Registrar of Companies.
Additionally, Brian has resolved tax review issues raised by the Revenue Authorities on behalf of his clients having built important relationships within these authorities.
With his legal background and knowledge, Brian reviews client contracts prior to execution, in order to establish any tax concerns that might arise in future. In this matter, he has been involved in advising clients to amend the terms of contracting, so as to protect the parties’ interests.
He has also been involved in lobbying the Governments of Kenya and Tanzania for changes in tax legislation that have appeared necessary in order to streamline tax law to business practice on the ground, and thus spur development as well as investment.
Brian is a member of the Law Society of Kenya and holds a current practicing certificate.
