James Muigai

James is a seasoned tax professional and the founding managing director/partner at Andersen in Rwanda, specializing in business advisory, tax compliance and reporting, and various outsourced services.

James has a proven track record in guiding businesses through complex tax compliance and reporting landscapes. In particular, he helps both domestic and multinational clients set up operations in Rwanda, design and implement internal compliance processes, financial reporting, and tax compliance. He is also adept at navigating tax dispute resolutions, consistently securing favorable outcomes for clients.

His expertise extends across diverse sectors such as agriculture and agri-processing, business process outsourcing (BPO), education, energy and large infrastructure, financial services, technology, startup ecosystems, and funds and investment structures under the Kigali International Financial Centre (KIFC).

Beyond his leadership role at Andersen, James is an enthusiastic golfer and a respected business leader. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the American Chamber of Commerce in Rwanda (AmCham Rwanda), where he contributes to fostering business relations and advancing the interests of the business community in the region.
