James Calister

James Calister is a member of  Andersen’s New York office, where he serves as a managing director in the Alternative Investment Services practice. He has over 20 years of tax experience at Andersen, including extensive knowledge of partnership taxation, alternative investments, distressed debt, real estate taxation, and state and local income and franchise tax issues.

James focuses on assisting both operating and investment partnerships with tax planning and compliance, fund structuring, and fund accounting and administration. He advises clients in the private equity, debt fund, family office, fund-of-fund, venture capital, and real estate industries, as well as businesses with operations in multiple states. He specializes in funds with complex waterfall distributions, carried interest, and allocation models, as well as the accompanying management companies and investment vehicles.
