Michael Barrett has over 12 years of experience in the tax practice. As a member of the Commercial practice, he focuses on corporate tax planning and compliance for emerging, closely held, and middle market companies. His primary practice areas include federal and state tax compliance, ASC 740, entity structuring, state and local tax planning, and international tax planning. He has advised businesses and their owners on various tax and commercial matters, including:
- Navigating the impact of tax reforms (TCJA)
- Intellectual property planning
- International tax planning and consultation
- US PFIC and CFC taxation

His focus is on helping high net worth individuals and their families preserve wealth though strategic income and estate tax planning.
Michael also has experience in the Alternative Investment Fund practice. He focuses on providing compliance and consulting services to private equity funds, hedge funds, and other similar investment partnership vehicles.
