Ana Inés Alfaro is a Partner at Andersen in Uruguay. She has over 20 years of experience in civil litigation, arbitration and contract law, assisting private clients and companies for planning, investing or engaging in cross-border and domestic deals in Uruguay.
She works with clients from the United States, Europe, Asia and Latin America, on matters such as civil international and domestic litigation and arbitration, international and domestic contracts, distribution agreements, and corporate structures for estate planning. She has been involved in the acquisition of local companies by multinationals as well as forestry and farmland development contracts in Uruguay.
Ana is a Law Professor in International Arbitration, Torts Law and Contracts at the Catholic University of Uruguay. She has published several articles and co-authored several books on Torts Law, jurisprudence reviews and contracts. She is also active in the German and British Chambers of Commerce in Uruguay.
Ana was born in Montevideo and has lived in the United States. Her work experience spans deals in the U.S. and several countries of South America, including contractual advice on expansion for one of Urugua's leading retailers, advice on corporate and litigation matters to a top global Japanese company in Uruguay, advice to a multinational construction company on the public offering for a private penitentiary in Montevideo, and advice to companies in the constriction area, public works and processing supply company for the industry.
Ana was also involved in a successful arbitration in London and the structuring of the first cattle warrant in Uruguay. She also actively collaborates in social interest projects.
